That really is the hundred thousand euro question, we should all do an international travel lottery based on our guesses! For real though, nobody knows when the Covid-19 will be completely behind us, but it certainly doesn’t mean we won’t be able to travel again in the next months or years.

Since the pandemic started at the beginning of 2020, most people were still able to travel with loads of precautions.

They did a pre and post travel covid test, extended lockdowns when arriving to a new country, as well as strict sanitization protocols. Yes, it’s different from the usual travelling style, but it’s still very worth it and temporary.

What will travel look like post covid 19?

A pause this long in the travel industry was never something we imagined or even considered. Tourism was increasing all around the world, in countries such as London or Copenhagen. It’s no surprise travel and tourism post covid 19 will be really different.

Here’s an exhaustive list of destination ideas you should put on your post covid travel bucket list and why.

Iceland

I’m not biased when I say Iceland is one of the most stunning countries to ever exist. Also known as the land of fire and ice, this island actually sprang from under the ocean about 20 millions years ago, following multiple volcanic eruptions.

It lies exactly between North American and Eurasian plates. It is located in the North of the globe, which makes its geological conditions quite extreme as the land is volcanic and the Iceland weather is quite cold.

Since the Vikings found this land about 1000 years ago, people all around the world have been fascinated about this country. And for good reason!

Iceland is home to the most insane landscape to exist, and it’s even often compared to moon sceneries. You can find glaciers, geysers, blue lagoons, waterfalls, black sand beaches and impressive volcano craters…

Iceland Roadtrip – Autumn 2018

A trip to Iceland can get pretty expensive if you don’t organise it properly, here’s a guide to plan your Iceland trip cost. The best time to visit Iceland is pretty much all year round except in December and January, because of the weather conditions.

Then, it depends on what you are looking for. Iceland northern lights mostly happen between September and March. October for example is the ideal time to see them and see the country both under the snow and with harsh landscapes.

  • Budget Iceland : ~ 800 euros for one week, including the planes, accommodation, food and activities
  • When to visit Iceland : from February to November
  • How many days in Iceland : 6 days to one month

Peru

Talking about Peru after Iceland is a nice transition because, even if they both are very different countries, they have some similarities on the amazing landscape diversity.

Peru has snow capped mountains, rainbow mountains and huge surf beaches. It also has waterfalls, turquoise lagoons and lakes. Pretty good right ? But it has a lot more in store.

The Inca country is home to a part of the Amazon Rainforest, the biggest one on the planet, but also to the Huacachina Oasis in the desert. On a more cultural note, Peru holds an incredible Inca heritage.

The Incas were a small tribe of American Indian people living in the southern highlands of Peru. In less than a century, they built one of the largest and most developed empires the world has ever known.

Even today, specialists all over the world have no idea how they could have built such massive constructions by themselves.

Besides the famous Machu Picchu, you can find hints of the Incan civilization everywhere. It shows in cities such as Cusco, Arequipa, but also in places like the Sacred Valley, the Lineas de Nasca… They left tons of mysterious Inca ruins and archaeological sites.

  • When to visit Peru : May to October
  • How many days in Peru : 2 weeks to one month

If you want to travel to Europe post covid, the Scandinavian country of Norway is a beautiful destination to visit. On the first hand, the cities are really safe to travel solo to. You can visit Oslo, Bergen or Tromsø on your own and explore their unique architecture, easy access to nature and copy their healthy ways of living. It’s no surprise Norway always is on the top of the happiest countries in the world!
