After a three year hiatus, the queen of art pop Lorde made her very long-awaited return with absolute divine new song “Solar Power” on June 10th. And the sun, moon and earth align when Lorde says so : it was the day of the only solar eclipse of the year.

Except from a few newsletters every now and then to tell us how it feels to connect back with nature and to take her time, we had no major Lorde news for years. This sudden comeback was very unexpected until a few days before her return, when rumors started to flow! Indeed, Lorde new song was supposed to come out on June 25th but sometimes, you have to go with the flow and draw out of the lines.
As soon as rumors started to spread around Lorde comeback and the visual of her new single Solar Power revealed on June 7th, the internet became crazy. Leaks of the song started to flow and the temptation to listen to it was real. On the other hand, the only solar eclipse of the year was scheduled for June 10th and the new song by Lorde is literally called Solar Power.
We don’t really know which one of these two reasons pushed forward the release date of Solar Power, but who cares… Lorde is back and here to stay now!
Lorde Solar Power Review
After breaking the internet with the reveal of the solar and naked artwork of Solar Power, Lorde finally released her first new song in 4 years. Solar Power was produced by her long time collaborator Jack Antonoff, who she has been working on almost all her music releases, including the intense Melodrama.
It also features the backing vocals of some of the most exciting female indie artists of the generation, Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers. The more you get into the song, the more this girl power shines. And as one good news always comes with another one, Lorde will also be featured in Clairo upcoming album Sling. It is also co-produced by Jack Antonoff.
Lorde new song solar power marks a new beginning and a new era much more joyful and sunny than Melodrama. And to be honest, that’s exactly what the world needed after the trembling year we just went through. A bit of feel good music, where nature is represented in all its glory as the center of universe and the answer to all our questions. Just like the question about the release date of her album, more on that later!
Lorde unique voice beautifully starts the song on acoustic guitar riffs for a good minute before other instruments join the dance. It’s a good preview of her third album, which Lorde describes as “sexy, playful, feral, and free. She’s a modern girl in a deadstock bikini, in touch with her past and her future, vibrating at the highest level when summer comes around. Her skin is glowing, her lovers are many” in her newsletter.
