Grand Palais ice rink

It’s one of the reasons people from all over the world flock to Paris at Christmas time. The Grand Palais is home to the world’s largest indoor ice rink during the festive season!

Just imagine: 3,000 square meters of ice under the impressive glass roof of the Grand Palais, one of Paris’s most emblematic (and beautiful) monuments.

The Grand Palais ice rink didn’t open its doors for the previous 5 years, as it was being renovated for the Paris Olympic Games. But this year, it’s back and icing!

Jardin d’Acclimatation Christmas Village ice rink

The Jardin d’Acclimatation is renowned for its themed light trails, for children and adults alike! This year, for Christmas, they’ve chosen a dinosaur-themed décor. Alongside the illuminations, a Christmas village opens with a 200m² ice rink.

It will be open in the afternoon, every day. Access to the garden is subject to an entrance fee of €7 per person. The ice rink comes with an additional charge.

La Defense Christmas Market ice rink

For those who are not familiar with La Defense, it is the financial district of Paris. Every year, it hosts a major Christmas market, but this is the first time an open-air skating rink has been opened there!

And it’s not any ice skating rink, imagine skating at the foot of the Arche de la Defense. It’s very picturesque! It’s a 450 m² natural ice rink and we are so looking forward to try it. Keep in mind gloves are mandatory for safety reasons.

Vincennes Christmas Market ice rink

The Hôtel de Ville of Vincennes offers a great christmas market every year. In 2024, the ice rink comes back for the biggest pleasure of families and adults. This is a great occasion to show off your best ice skating moves.

It is open from Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 1 PM, and from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and on weekends from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM.

Saint-Denis Christmas Market ice rink

Saint-Denis is a city located at the north of Paris, and reachable within public transport in only 15 minutes from Place de Clichy. The ice rink of the Christmas market right in from of the Basilica. You will ice skate with a stunning views of this monument!

The rink is open every day, and some days even at night time until 10 PM! Ice skating at night under the Christmas lights and in front of a stunning basilica could be a one-in-a-lifetime moment.

Provins Christmas market ice rink

Parc Astérix has a large indoor ice space, with two ice rinks and even a 28m-long sled run.

Enghien-les-Bains Christmas Market ice rink

The beautiful lake town of Enghien-les-Bains in the north of Paris doesn’t sit on the sidelines. Every year, it organizes a sublime Christmas market with projections, light trails and, of course, a giant ice rink!

There is almost 300m² of ice for you to show off your skating skills. It is open on weekdays from 12 PM to 7 PM, and on weekends from 10 AM to 7 PM.

Rambouillet: ice skating rink for christmas village

The Christmas market of Champs de Mars is a traditional event made of dozens of wooden chalets and animations, such as video mapping and Christmas cribs with farm animals. Each year, its 400m² ice rink returns for the biggest pleasure of little ones and older ones!

The best thing about ice skating in a christmas market is that if you get too cold, you can have a hot chocolate a few steps away from the ice rink. It combines at least two or three winter perks, right?

8 Best Indoor Ice Rinks in Paris and Region

Have you discovered a passion for ice skating in Paris? Well, you don’t have to wait until next winter to enjoy it again! Here are all the best indoor skating rinks in and around Paris.

Accor Arena Ice Rink

The Sonja Henie rink is located inside the Accor Arena venue, which is mostly known for being a big renowned concert venue. Recently, a night club even opened below the Accor Arena. A cool buzzing center, but that is not what we are here to talk about!

The ice rink of the Accor Arena is one of the only two ice rinks located inside Paris, and not in the neighboring cities. It is also the largest one, offering 1500m² of ice to dance on.

This place is quite iconic in the ice skating world as it has been open for decades. World champions skated there, such as Philippe Candeloro. 

Is it inspiring you to come ice skate more regularly at the Accor Arena ice rink? Well, it is open from September to May. On the weekends, they even organize DJ sets during evenings!

Pailleron Rink

The Pailleron Ice Rink is part of a big sports complex called the Espace Sportif Pailleron. It is located in the 19th district and has many other cool infrastructures, such as a swimming pool and a fitness center.

The ice rink covers an area of 800m². It is big enough to fit around 250 ice skaters at the same time! It is all-year around every day, except for July and August.

The rink is open to all, whatever your level or age. You can come and have fun with your family, or train to improve your skills.

Boulogne-Billancourt Rink

To the west of Paris, you can find another large ice rink in Boulogne-Billancourt. This ice rink is pretty emblematic since it was inaugurated in 1955. It was one of the first indoor ice rinks in France.

Since then, it has been renovated a few times to make it the modern facility it is today.

You can enjoy it with your friends, family or solo, and it doesn’t matter if you are a skilled ice skater or a beginner. The main aim of building this rink was to democratize ice skating in the country and make it more accessible.

Argenteuil Rink

Argenteuil is located in the north east of Paris. That is a dynamic city where lots of families live. Therefore, it is no wonder Argenteuil is home to a big 1425 m² ice rink.

This ice rink offers many family and child-friendly activities. For instance, it has ice sports discovery weeks for children from 6 to 15, or even an ice school for children from 6 to 12 wanting to do it weekly.

Another cool indoor rink you have to experience is the one located in Courbevoie. The Thierry Monier ice rink can be reached from Paris either by public transport or by car. It is underneath a shopping mall so you can easily park nearby.

Meudon UCPA ice skating rink

Meudon is located in the south west of Paris, around 50 minutes by public transport from Paris’ center. It is home to one of the largest ice rinks in the Paris region.

The rink covers a surface of 1600 m² and can accomodate up to 750 people at once! It means that everyone has space to skate and try cool figures in their corner of the ice rink.

They offer birthday formulas, but also ice skating lessons. No need to choose between having fun or practicing, both are available at Meudon ice rink.

The rink is surrounded by a grandstand, allowing field hockey fans to cheer on their favorite team on game nights.

Speaking of big rinks, this one is THE biggest in the western suburbs of Paris. The Olympic ice rink of the Courtilles, in the center of Asnieres-sur-Seine, is 1800m².

As you can guess, professional ice skaters go there to practice. You can see some impressive moves on a visit to this ice rink. However, there are also sessions open to people wanting to have fun and beginners.

If you love watching good ice skaters dancing on the dance, we recommend booking tickets for the Coupe d’Asnières, a competition held every year at the Courtilles ice rink!

Cergy ice rink: Aren’Ice

Aren’Ice boast no one, but two ice rinks inside the same complex. This is therefore the best spot to go ice skating to on a busy Saturday afternoon with your friends or family.

Located in the north of Paris, Cergy is famous for ice skating. Professional teams train there regularly. Aren’Ice is also the place where the youth meet to spend a pleasant afternoon, and where many field hockey dreams are born.

In addition to the free entrances as well as ice hockey or ice skating lessons for all ages, there are great artistic shows and competitions taking place in Cergy Pontoise ice rink. Even when you are not skating, you are sure to always spend a good evening there. The Ice Bar, music and events create a great atmosphere.
