Pucak Manik Waterfall

The charming Pucak Manik Waterfall is actually a set of three secret waterfalls, at the north of the Twin Lakes. They’re quite unknown from tourists because they’re located right next to the famous Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall and Banyumala Twin Waterfalls.

However, you should plan some time to visit them as well because of how majestic they are. Wanagiri Pucak Manik Waterfall is secluded in the middle of rice terraces, away from the bustling cities. In other words, if you visit them before they become as touristy as the others, you’ll have all the place to yourself!

The first waterfall doesn’t impress by its size but by the fact that they roll along the stones and form dozens of different small waterfalls to then form a plunge pool. The vegetation is so dense that it hides the source of the waterfall. After contemplating or even meditating in front of this natural wonder, you can head to the second and third waterfall.

The second waterfall might be dry depending on the season you visit, but the third waterfall is worth checking out. It is quite tall and you can walk all around it, which is very unusual for Bali waterfalls. Take advantage of this spot away from the crowds to spend time in nature!

  • Closest big town : Munduk or Lovina
  • Location : Q4Q6+44P, Wanagiri, Sukasada, Buleleng Regency
  • Entrance fee : 30,000 IDR ($ 2.13 USD)

Sambangan Secret Garden

Now it’s time for a good waterfall adventure! Where are the thrill lovers? The Secret Garden of Sambangan is a waterfall heaven located near the town of Singaraja, a 45 minute drive from Lovina. The surrounding villages ain’t particularly secret but are very authentic. Nature is untouched by modernity yet.

While visiting the Sambangan Secret Garden waterfall, you will not only get to experience one-in-a-lifetime water adventures but also witness scenic nature views. What about sliding along a waterfall or finally doing that Bali waterfall jump you’ve been dreaming of? Get into the wild, yes, like Christopher McCandless, and have the time of your life.

After admiring the famous Aling Aling Waterfall, from the ground because it is not allowed to swim in it, head to Kroya Waterfall. It is a pretty waterfall of medium size in the middle of a cove. You can jump into the water from a five meter high platform, swim a bit and hike to the top of the waterfall.

From there, a guide will give you a lifejacket so you can roll down the 12 meters of the waterfall safely. This unique activity is doable because of how smooth the stones are, do not try this anywhere else. Then, head to Kembar Twin Waterfalls for a 10 meter jump and Pucuk Waterfall for a 15 meter jump!

This small guide of Sambangan Secret Garden is only a small glimpse of what you can do there. If you’re not short on time, you can easily spend a full day there and have all kinds of chill or thrill adventures.

Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall

After the three Bali secret waterfalls, here’s a newcomer that is quickly gaining more recognition over the years. Banyu Wana Amertha is a medium size waterfall that splits into multiple falls in the middle of a lush greenery paradise.

If you visit during the rainy season, you will have the huge privilege to visit not one but four waterfalls of all kinds. And you can access them all with one entrance ticket! What people like is that those waterfalls are very accessible. The steps are quite easy to walk down and they only take about 1O minutes.

If you’re travelling with a disable or older person, motorbike drivers can take you back up after your visit. In all cases, this place truly lives up to the dreamy area of north Bali. It should definitely appear on your north Bali waterfall tour!

  • Closest big town : Munduk or Lovina
  • Location : Wanagiri, Sukasada, Buleleng Regency
  • Entrance fee : 30,000 IDR ($ 2.13 USD)
  • Opening hours : 8 AM to 5 PM

Banyumala Twin Waterfalls

Starting this Bali waterfall guide off with the one very special waterfall in the north of Bali : Banyumala Twin Waterfall. These majestic falls tumble down rocks covered with lush vegetation in the middle of an epic nature setting. In addition to this, the water forms a big swimming hole where you can refresh and swim until right under the falls! How unreal?

This place opened to the public in 2015 so it’s quite unknown to the masses. However, its falls tumbling down a 20-meter-high cliff should attract way more curious people soon. That’s why you don’t want to miss out on this one on your next trip to Bali.

Another reason that makes this waterfall a bit of a hidden gem is its location. To access it, you’ll need to drive to the north central Bali in the area of Munduk, at the north of lake Buyan. Visiting with a guide is not necessary. If you can’t find the waterfall, we suggest you ask locals for directions as the signs are a bit faded.

From the parking lot, you’ll need to walk around 20 minutes down a rough path made of bamboo in the forest. It is a pretty easy path as long as you’re careful with where you put your foot on. And once you arrive at the bottom of the waterfall you’ll see it’s incredibly worth the little effort!

  • Closest big town : Munduk or Lovina
  • Banuymala Twin Waterfall location : Wanagiri, Sukasada, Buleleng
  • Opening Hours : 7 AM to 6 PM every day
  • Banyumala Twin Waterfall entrance fee : 30,000 IDR ($2.1 USD) for the entrance and 3,000 IDR ($0.2 USD) for the parking

Golden Valley Waterfall

Because Munduk really is a waterfall heaven, we weren’t quite ready to leave the area yet. How could we without having talked about the gorgeous Golden Valley Waterfall? This one has it all : it’s a magnificent fall in the jungle of Munduk and it’s pretty unknown from the crowds. And the entrance fee proves it ; it’s less than one dollar!

It truly looks like a piece of paradise was dropped in the middle of nature. As it’s located right next to Munduk Waterfall, you’ll actually need to take the same path and then keep going for a short 15-minute hike through the forest. Most people stop at the first waterfall so it’s really worth walking a little longer to have this paradise all to yourself.

The water falls on about 15 meters into a small natural pool. It’s so shallow that you can approach the fall without swimming. For waterfall chasing adventures like this one, it’s always good to have sneakers as the road can get quite steep and wet. However, to enter the water, you can wear sea shoes.

  • Closest big town : Munduk or Singaraja
  • Address : Munduk, Banjar, Buleleng Regency
  • Entrance fee : 10,000 IDR ($0.70 USD)
  • Opening hours : 8 AM to 5 PM

Nungnung Waterfall

Let’s head to the south of the twin lakes area now. Nungnung Waterfall is ideally located for road trips, because it is one hour away from Ubud and one hour and a half from Seminyak and Canggu. It is close to the Jatiluwih rice fields as well, which makes the road very scenic and soothing.

You will love Nungnung Waterfall if you are the adventurous type. It is a little longer to reach and that is the only thing that keeps it from becoming the main attraction of mass tourism. From the parking lot, you’ll need to walk down around 500 steps. However, the path leading to the waterfall is just as beautiful as the waterfall itself so don’t forget to look up a little.

After a 20 to 30 minutes effort, you’ll finally face the splendid Nungnung Waterfall. At this exact moment, time stands still in the face of the power of the impressive 50-meter-high waterfall. This is definitely one of the tallest waterfalls of Bali but also one of its best kept secrets, how unreal?

You won’t be able to swim under it but it’s definitely worth admiring from all angles, to witness how powerful nature is. Unlike other waterfalls in Bali, Air Terjun Nungnung is still pretty strong during the dry season. Add it to your Bali itinerary and consider visiting it in the morning to enjoy it completely by yourself.

  • Location : Ubud
  • Address : Belok/Sidan, Petang, Badung Regency
  • Entrance fee : 20,000 IDR ($1.50 USD)
  • Opening hours : 9 AM to 4 PM

Leke Leke Waterfall

Leke Leke Waterfall is very close to Nungnung Waterfall as the crow flies. But well, we can’t even count the number of Bali waterfalls near Ubud so it’s no surprise. However, it’ll take about 30 minutes to drive from one to the other as there’s no straight road between them. You can include them both after a visit to the holy Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and to the never ending Jatiluwih rice fields.

What’s unusual at Leke Leke Waterfall is that it is nestled between two big rocks covered with green moss. The setting seems to be straight out of a movie. It has viewpoint structures on which you can take beautiful pictures. Then, you can get closer to the waterfall and stare at this astounding jungle oasis.

Leke Leke Waterfall entrance fee is a bit more expensive than the other waterfalls but it’s certainly due to the fact that it’s really well maintained. There are facilities and viewpoint structures, as well as beautiful bamboo bridges and human built paths on the way to the waterfall. It’s all very modern and makes the experience quite unique.

  • Location : Ubud
  • Address : J5PW+7W7, Antapan, Baturiti, Tabanan Regency
  • Entrance fee : 50,000 IDR ($3.55 USD)
  • Opening hours : 7 AM to 5 PM

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Looking for Bali hidden waterfalls? Tukad Cepung Waterfall is a very unique place to visit because of its hidden setting. The water flows down the stones of a cave and the sun rays interfere and dance in this special place. The closer you get to the waterfall, the more you’ll see mesmerising sun rays. It’s actually as pleasing as seeing the waterfall itself.

The round shapes of the rocks make it a very enchanting and photogenic place that you must add to your list. It’s located in the Bangli area, approximately 50 minutes from Ubud and 1h30 from Seminyak by car. Once at the parking, you will go down the stairs and hike for about 30 minutes.

Note that it’s not deep enough for people to swim in it. However, you should wear your swimming suit to go closer to the waterfall. There are also smaller falls on the way to Tukad Cepung Waterfall where you can “shower” in nature.

  • Closest big town : Ubud
  • Address : Central parkir waterfall tukad cepung, Jl. Tembuku, Tembuku, Kabupaten Bangli
  • Entrance fee : 10,000 IDR ($0.70 USD)
  • Opening hours : 8 AM to 6 PM

Pengempu Waterfall

Pengempu Waterfall is located at the west south of Tegalallang Rice Terrace and west north of Ubud. In other words, it’s ideal for day trips from Ubud or Seminyak. It is a very secluded waterfall that has an outstanding nature all around it.

Pengempu Waterfall doesn’t have the same notoriety as Tukad Cepung or Kanto Lampo. It attracts very few tourists and doesn’t have a lot of direction signs. However, you will have a lot of places to park and then the hike up and down is very easy and accessible. The pool of the waterfall is shallow so it’s safe to bring kids for a nature or picnic adventure in the middle of nature.

If you plan to stay there for a while, remember to bring mosquito repellent and snacks. What could be better than having a picnic in the middle of nature in front of a waterfall with no one around? This is what we call true luxury in Bali!

  • Location : Ubud
  • Address : Jl. Seribupati, Cau Belayu, Marga, Kabupaten Tabanan
  • Entrance fee : free
  • Opening hours : 6 AM to 6 PM

Tibumana Waterfall

The north of the island is wonderful but south Bali waterfalls also deserve a spot on your itinerary. Let’s head east to Ubud now for a new adventure in an environment where serenity and exoticism live in harmony. Tibumana Waterfall is sheltered into the lush green rainforest and offers a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.

The name of Bali waterfalls usually perfectly describes the setting of the natural place. Here, “Tibu” means deep river or pool. It means that you can have a refreshing swim under the waterfall if you wish. You can use the changing rooms at the entrance of the waterfall. When it’s sunny, the plunge pool looks turquoise blue and you could almost feel like it’s a small blue lagoon of Nusa Ceningan.

After passing through a temple, you’ll need to walk about ten minutes in the jungle on human made bamboo bridges. After a relaxing time near the waterfall, we advise you to discover the nearby charming villages.

  • Location : Ubud
  • Address : Jl. Setra Agung, Apuan, Susut, Kabupaten Bangli
  • Entrance fee : 10,000 IDR ($0.70 USD)
  • Opening hours : 8 AM to 6 PM

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo, also known as Air Terjun Kanto Lampo, is part of the waterfalls in Bali Ubud gang. This one does not impress by its size but by the surface on which the water flows. The water rolls on different levels because the stones under it form floors. Kanto Lampo looks like an imposing staircase of water and it is as wide as it is long.

Getting to Kanto Lampo waterfall from Ubud is very quick : it’s a 20 minute drive east from the main town. When arriving at the parking lot, you will pay an entrance fee of 20,000 IDR ($1.50 USD). If you plan to explore the waterfall from different viewpoints, you will have to get wet. You can use the changing rooms to put your swimming suit on. Then, follow the signs and go down the stairs.

As this location is quite known by tourists as the waterfall Bali Gianyar, we suggest getting there early. This way, you will have more room to explore and to take stunning pictures. Kanto Lampo offers tons of splendid picture opportunities so it’d be a shame to have 10 people in your background, right?

  • Closest big town : Ubud
  • Kanto Lampo Waterfall location : Jl. Kaliasem lingk.kelod kangin
  • Opening hours : 7 AM to 5 PM every day
  • Kanto Lampo Waterfall entrance fee : 20,000 IDR ($1.50 USD)
  • Guide : possible but not needed

Tegenungan Waterfall

Here is the southernmost waterfall of the island on the list. It’s a 30-minute drive from Ubud and 45-minute from Seminyak. Actually, it’s one of the best Bali waterfalls near Seminyak. The short road makes it doable by scooter, but if you can also rent a car with a private driver for a day and visit the south of Bali with Uluwatu or the centre with the area of Ubud.

Either way, Tegenungan Waterfall Bali should be on your list and here’s why. Once you paid your entrance fee, you can walk through the market until reaching a “Tegenungan Waterfall” welcome sign. It’s a popular place in the area so it gets a bit crowded during the late morning or afternoon. We recommend visiting it in the early morning.

You will visit it with fewer people around and smelling the pure air of a waterfall in the early morning has to be good for mental and physical health, right? After the direction sign, you will run into the first viewpoint. It is quite far from the waterfall and offers a bird’s eye view of the forest surrounding the beautiful waterfall.

Then, you’ll see plenty of human made art, like bamboo forming a heart framework with the waterfall in the background. There are also beautiful collections of pebbles and obviously, the typical Bali swing. Depending on the season and water speed, you can go closer to the waterfall and see it from different angles. It’s definitely a nice spot to add to your itinerary!

  • Location : Sanur
  • Address : Jl. Ir. Sutami, Kemenuh, Kec. Sukawati, Kabupaten Gianyar
  • Entrance fee : 15,000 IDR ($1 USD) for adults and 10,000 IDR ($0.70 USD) for children
  • Opening hours : 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
  • Guide : not needed

Peguyangan Waterfall Nusa Penida

Even though the Peguyangan Waterfall is located on Nusa Penida and not Bali itself, we couldn’t not include it in this article. Indeed, there’s a huge chance you’re going to visit Nusa Penida during a Bali trip as it’s her wonderful island neighbor.

Among the natural wonders of Nusa Penida such as the T-Rex cliff of Kelingking Beach, beautifully shaped rock formations or nature billabongs, you can also visit the Peguyangan Waterfall. The walk to this spot in itself is as iconic as the nature there.

A long blue staircase of around 750 steps has been built along the cliff and offers unreal points on the coast and the ocean. It will bring you to a sacred water temple that features four holy waterspouts. Locals showers here to purify their souls.

You will also run into natural pools facing the ocean. That’s the perfect place to relax after a 20-minute hike down. Last but not least, the waterfall in itself is nothing like the typical Bali waterfall. It’s more a waterspout falling on rocks of different levels. But the journey makes it all very rewarding!

  • Location : Nusa Penida (south)
  • Address : Nusa Penida, Batukandik, Nusapenida, Kabupaten Klungkung
  • Entrance fee : free
  • Opening hours : 6 AM to 7 PM

Bali Waterfalls – Know Before You Go

Leave nothing but footprints

Leave nature either untouched or better than you found it. Bali waterfalls attract thousands of tourists each day and these natural sites could change dramatically from the perspective of mass tourism. Please, if you visit them, do not leave anything but small footprints behind you.

Change on the spot

It’s common to find changing rooms at the entrance of Bali waterfalls. If the plunge pool of the waterfall you’re about to visit is swimmable, ask if there are changing rooms at the pay desk. It might save you from an uncomfy changing time in the car!

Pay your entrance fee

There’s an entrance fee for almost all waterfalls in Bali. As a visitor to Balinese’s home, you shouldn’t try to go through another path in order to save $1 USD… Paying the entrance fee is a very small gesture on your part but is very important to maintain the local economy. Tourism is very important on the island and it helps to regulate it and keep nature intact.

What to bring on a waterfall adventure?

First, you should either have sneakers or sea shoes depending on how slippery the path is supposed to be at this time of the year. You can also bring your swimming suit, mosquito repellent and phone to take pictures. However, don’t bring any unnecessary items like a wallet or expensive items.

Pay attention to the season

Ask locals how the waterfall is at this time of the year. If you’re visiting during the dry season, some waterfalls have a very low flow or are sometimes even non-existent. Ask them about the one you’re about to visit to avoid any disappointment or waste of time.
